Natural Resources
In this unit of study, we will examine different types of Earth's natural material and energy resources and how they are classified as renewable and nonrenewable. We will also study our dependence upon these resources for life, food, and the goods we produce to increase our quality of life. How we consume, conserve, and handle the wastes these resources generate will also be studied.
Human Dependence on Natural Resources
What alternative energy options exist? Humans depend on natural resources for sources of energy and raw materials to make products. Food is another natural resource that can be consumed in its natural state or processed into some other product (think wheat into flour into bread). Resources can be put into categories as renewable and nonrenewable. In this unit, we will look at the differences between types of resources, and their benefits and problems. We will also look at how our need for energy and resources matches up with our ability to produce these needed parts of our daily lives.

What alternative energy options exist? By now you should know of the traditional energy resources of fossil fuels. Can you name them? Alternative energy options are generally renewable resources. Can you list the five main renewable energy resources we discussed in this unit? Click here and here for review.
